To reset the modem use the next String: ATZ

Setting the Modem Connection String

SETAR best modem connection string
The best string is S38=0. This string works for most modems.
If you get a "The modem is NOT responding" message, set the ATZ string and try again. If it doesn't help, you will have to reboot the computer.
